Abstract

The market of online platforms facilitates a variety of transactions between the seller, consumers, and platform operators thus, platform operators have verification obligations. According to the E-commerce Law, the obligations of e-commerce platform operators to protect consumers from defective products are mainly reflected in their obligations to examine the identity of sellers, review product information, and protect consumers' personal and life safety. This article compares two E-commerce laws of China with the E-commerce laws of Laos. It found that the legal Product Liabilities for Breach of Verification Obligations in China is joint and several liability and corresponding liability, In contrast, the legal Product Liabilities for Breach of Verification Obligations in Laos are not a liability thus, verification obligations under the Decree on Electronic Commerce 2021 of Laos will affect the consumers when buying the defective product and unclear liability between the seller and platform operator, This research is very important to the development of the modern economy along with appropriate and current laws.
